So my debit card expired and I haven't yet received a new one. No big deal. It isn't like I use my debit card at least four or five times a week or anything. So I called my bank this afternoon to arrange to have a card sent to me so I can get my purchasing life back to normal. I got a message from some cheery dumbass saying that in honor of Veteran's Day, all bank offices will be closed Thursday, November 11. What the hell? Since when is Veteran's Day a real holiday? Don't get me wrong, veterans should have a day in their honor, but why does that mean all banks and government offices close to celebrate it? I can understand closing offices on some holidays like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and New Year's. But Veteran's Day? Why don't we take off Secretary's Day and National Poetry Day and Sweetest Day while we're at it? As a matter of fact, let's take off all the useless holidays so we can inconvenience even more people who didn't receive their debit cards in the mail. It's all because people are lazy assholes who just don't want to work. I may be a lazy asshole, but I'm working today, so I would think that enough people could work so that I could get my fucking debit card. I think when I'm at work tonight, if any bank employees come in, I'm going to turn them away at the door, so they know how it feels. Hey, if they don't want my business today, I don't want theirs either. Veteran's Day is not a real holiday so just get off your lazy ass and go to work.
