Dear Mike Judge,

As I prepare to watch the first new "Beavis and Butthead" episode in fourteen years, I have mixed emotions. I, like many die-hard B&B fans, was extremely disappointed when the show's final (we thought) episode aired. At that point in my life, B&B was hands-down my all-time favorite TV show (although South Park has since surpassed it) and it was taken from me in its' prime. But, as with any time in life that you lose something or someone important to you, I moved on. It wasn't easy, but I did it. I bought B&B DVDs and watched those old favorites from time to time whenever I missed the show hoping you would change your mind and come back, until one day I never watched those old DVDs anymore because so much time had passed that I had moved on and made my peace with losing such a great show still in its' prime.

And then I heard it was coming back. And at first I was really excited because for the first time in 14 years, I was going to get to watch a new episode, and it was awesome. But the more I thought about it, the more I questioned whether this was really a good thing or not. The show had a satisfying (if too soon in the coming) conclusion and I had nothing but positive memories and I started to wonder what would happen if the show comes back and it isn't as good as before. I mean Indiana Jones used to be a pretty damn good movie franchise a long time ago, but they brought that back and look what happened. I didn't want that to happen to "Beavis and Butthead."

And to be completely honest, I started wondering why, after 14 years would you suddenly decide to go back to the show? And then I thought, well, "King of the Hill" is over, "The Goode Family" was horrible and got canceled almost immediately, and you haven't really had a decently successful movie since "Office Space" (although "Idiocracy" has its' cult following, self included). And then this whole thing started sounding suspiciously like a money grab. And then I read that this time around, Beavis and Butthead wouldn't necessarily be sitting on the couch talking shit about music videos, the show was going to be a little different this time around and they would be talking about things like movies, Youtube videos, and shows like "The Jersey Shore." And then I heard a rumor that Snooki would be making a voice cameo and I died a little inside.

So as my clock ticks toward 10:00 and the first new episode of "Beavis and Butthead" since the Clinton administration, I'm hopeful and excited at something that certainly has the potential to be a hell of a lot better than most of the shit on my TV these days. But I'm also really worried that the show I loved so fervently as a teenager is going to come back as the equivalent of "Beavis and Butthead and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." So I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you took my then-favorite TV show away from me, gave me my closure and let me move on, only to bring it back 14 years later and Crystal-Skull it up, I will come to your house, pull down my pants, take a shit on your front porch, and then light it on fire. Because that's what a "Beavis and Butthead" fan would do.

Love,
