Last week, I answered an email from Josh, who asked me if I could make fun of Coldplay, a shitty British band. He wrote back.
Hey man, why don't you want to make fun of Coldplay? You don't like them do you? I thought you listened to heavier music like Manson and NiN. What's up with you liking Coldplay? - Josh
Dear Josh,
I never said I liked Coldplay. As a matter of fact I don't like them at all. But to be perfectly honest, I can't very well make fun of them knowledgeably, because I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV, so the only song of theirs I'm familiar with enough to make fun of is "Yellow." That song was in heavy rotation a few years ago back when I actually listened to the radio, but I stopped listening soon thereafter so I'm not too familiar with their music since. You see, if I just made fun of someone or something I wasn't too familiar with just for the sake of making fun of it, it would only serve to make me look like a dumbass.
Secondly, and more importantly, I've never been too keen on the idea of taking requests for articles. When I write about something, it has to be something I feel strongly about, at least for the duration of my writing it. If it isn't something I feel strongly about, it just ends up being boring and shitty. And not shitty in a good way, either. Like my shitty artwork, shitty web design skills, and shitty writing cohesion (like how I randomly skip around from topic to topic, giving English teachers everywhere a shit hemorrhage). You see, these parts of my site are shitty in a good way, but if I wrote about something I didn't feel strongly about, the end result would be shitty in a shitty way.
So don't be offended by my failure to write something making fun of Coldplay, and don't think I'm a Coldplay-loving hippie, but I stand by my original answer.
No.
